I don't wanna bore you with introductions so I'll get straight to it hehe.

!! 1. Two Birds by Regina Spektor !!

Put here by the fact that it's referenced in the original caption for the drawing where young Swatch and Shaplin draw the NEO suit.
This song is so sad when I think about how it applies to Swatch and Shaplin!!

To me, they're obviously the two birds on a wire, but more importantly, Swatch is the bird that tries to let go, and Shaplin is the one that doesn't.
What is letting go of the wire?
Would it be, letting go of their shared trauma?
Would it be something else, like stepping out of their comfort zone?
Or maybe the wire is their relationship, and Swatch letting go of the wire is the same as Swatch growing apart from Shaplin?

All of these meanings are deeply interesting to me!!! Maybe none of these are the actual meaning that applies to this character? that is interesting, too.

The second stanza I feel is stating the fact that before being Queen's peons, before being boss and employee of the Color Café, they're siblings and they'll love and care for each other.
I like to think that, because Shaplin is the older sister, she's the one saying "I won't let go of your hand".
And, I didn't think of this before, but after writing that, I thought "Swatch could be the one saying the two previous lines" and it's good!

It's a call and response; Swatch tells their sister that there's nothing they won't understand, that they'll be there for her and try to bring her up whenever possible because she did when the two were young,
And like I said before, Shaplin says the following two verses, telling Swatch the same as in "If you got my back, I got yours",
And by telling them she won't let go of their hand, it solidifies her status as their protective older sister that in my opinion is very sweet.

But, well, this song isn't really that happy...

In all honesty the fact that one of the birds said "I'm tired" convinced me that that one is Shaplin (lol)
Swatch tells her, come on, but she says she's tired, and makes up excuses to not get off the wire with them.
She goes on to say "one more or one less, nobody's worried" which reminded me of the comic that accompanied her gasterifyuroc challenge.

"It's not like I really needed you anyways."

It gives the same vibe, a vibe that's very pessimistic, but has a high probability of simply not being true and that it was just said in the heat of the moment.
Doesn't make it sting less, though...

Finally, the second to last stanza.
Since English is not my first language I had to search up what "two birds of a feather" means.
God if this isn't such a fitting phrase for these two for all of the wrong reasons, smite me now.
The whole proberb is "two birds of a feather flock together" and well, it's obvious that they've got so little in common that they've seriously grown apart.

Also, having in mind the reason I included this song, the next thing said in the song,

"Say that they're always gonna stay together"

Is them as kids having a great relationship, Swatch looking up to Shaplin as a great sister...

"But one's never going to let go of that wire"

And now it's all different, isn't it? They're not kids anymore, and they've gone from being siblings to having to stay proffesional for the sake of their jobs. Swatch takes this SO seriously that they've succesfully pushed their sister out of close bounds.

Thinking of this a lot more, it now makes sense to me that Shaplin has snapped and said that she doesn't even need them. Is it probably projection? Is she trying to protect herself from the thought of "they're so busy with work, they don't even need my help anymore"?
It could be. Or maybe not! I can't really get into her creator's mind, can I? hehe.

"He says he wants to as well, but he is a liar" and similiar verses show that Shaplin is also kind of at fault for her relationship with her sibling being strained.

She causes inconvenience after inconvenience to Swatch who has to save face for the both of them. They always clean up her messes...

Sure, they're family, but how much does that matter in the workplace?

It's saddening coming back to the fact that Swatch thought of Shaplin as such a great person, a role model even, but now she's... clearly, very different from that.

So, yeah. Those were my thoughts on this song. It's so sad, but I love angst!!! I'm hsad (happy sad).

TL;DR: This song is about Swatch's and Shaplin's strained relationship as siblings who went throught the same trauma and then *had* to hold a professional affiliation in order to live in the palace.


!! 2. Latin Simone (¿Qué pasa contigo?) !!

I love this song because it's in Spanish and I don't have to whip out a thesaurus to understand it /hj
I included it because I find myself asking "¿Qué pasa contigo?" (What's the matter with you?) whenever I see Shaplin complaining about... things that are really actually positive?

Like, she works at the Color Café thanks to Swatch and for some reason she resents them for that?!
Babygirl without them you'd... kinda be on the streets?!?!
Imagine that, she'd have to share the ground with Spamton and that thought is hilarious
He'd be a fucking asshole and run her out of any place close to any of his dumpsters tho

...Where was I going with this?
Right.

Another thing that I'm baffled at is that she says she's the loser of the family (and she definitely is don't get me wrong lol)
And she acts as if her family were mean to her about it?!?! or, like, being two faced to her??!?!?!!??! GIRL?!?!? LMFAO?!?!?!

Babe, your family loves you just as much as you love them...

I don't have much to say about them individually so I just clumped them up to talk about them in general!

When I saw that Shaplin's favorite musical genre is Metal you should've seen my FACE!!!
BECAUSE I *LOVE* METAL... NU METAL IN SPECIFIC BUT METAL IS WOO WOO WOO *HONKS MY HORN* *DRIFTS MY CAR* *I GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT* *HONK* *HONK* *HONK*

I like it very much, so I was excited to share that with a character I'm interested in :]

I added Korn because that's the band that introduced me to the genre, and those are two of my favorite songs from them.
I'm daydreaming (nightdreaming? it's 3 am...) about sharing earbuds with her and just blasting Metal at unhealthy decibels LMAO

THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE FROM THIS PLAYLIST AMÉN!!!

Anyway,
The reasons I have for adding this are kind of self insert(y) so if you don't wanna read that, feel free to skip ahead...!

When I heard this song in my playlist I immediately had this idea of
Taking Shaplin out to dance because, she doesn't really strike me as the type of girl that does that!
It kinda saddens me...!

She would really benefit from having someone to do fun and silly things with!
Someone to brighten her day, it's obvious she hates working in the food service industry and really could use a better distraction than... Spamton...

Or Trashy apparently?????
...its so sad that the only ppl that she calls her friends are figurative and literal trash men lmfao sobs with reverb

But... YEAH i just imagine this song as egging her on, get up and dance, don't matter if you dance like shit, i'll dance like shit with you, let's have two left feet together and have a great time, methinks.

LMFAOOOOO THIS ONE IS GREAT ALSO.

This song was made for a movie with the same name!
This is copied from the Author's Notes because he summarized the movie's plot better than I could:

"The movie's about a bullied loser who drinks a magic potion that turns him Cool. He goes around being Cool, meanwhile causing various problems for the rest of the town.
The main character buys the magic potion from a shop which doubles as an ice cream joint. The potion itself is just green glow-stick juice."

So you could see why it kiiiinda reminded me of her...
But I'm still gonna explain it because I love talking about this... (oh, really?)

I see her as completely, 100% likely to drink up a so-called coolness potion because some sleaze (probably Spamton, or a random addison?) told her it "makes you irresistible to women".

And OF COURSE IT'S NOT AN ACTUAL POTION. OF COURSE. OF COURSE. (me when i drink highlighter fluid)

There are two reasons why I included this song and one of them I'm pretty sure has already been guessed,
but i'm explaining both still because not everybody's in on the joke!!!!

Reason number one and obvious to some is that they made an Attack Of The Killer Queen YTP with the opening "MrBeast" sound, and knowing she's a massive simp for Queen, it's only natural for me to add this.

Reason number two is related to the next song, because if she can listen to THAT... THING... unironically, I don't doubt she can listen to Squid Game vs MrBeast Epic Rap Battle, too.

(Though, this one's much better and I... do find myself listening to it sometimes but you didn't see me writing that........ it. it DOES take one to know one........)

I remember scrolling through her tag when I had just re-discovered her,
And stumbling upon that one ask where they said that Shaplin would listen to Yuno Miles!

I was excited to know more about her music taste, knowing we already shared metal as a favorite genre!

It didn't sound that bad, until I opened up the lyrics widget...

I couldn't look away from this person's music.

It was so... goofy. It started to grow on me.
I looked for more, my curiosity was not sated.

And this gem revealed itself to me.

I was writing this webpage while using my own "oH mY gOoOoOd ThIs Is So MeEeE" playlist and this started playing and it was an instant connection BWAHAHGHSHGSAGHS

She WOULD panic over having Shampoo Poisoning,
She would call the number on the back asking for help,
She would have been given clear instructions for how to avoid that,
she WOULD not follow them because "i dont wanna vomit :pleading_emoji:"

But ultimately she'd be fine because it's just a sip of shampoo.

I once... had a taste of that. (ACCIDENTALLY. OK.)
It doesn't taste as good as its smell.

I saw this song when I checked on this artist's page because I didn't remember adding them to any of my playlists and I also made an instant connection to her HA

It's all just mildly annoying stuff to do and I do get it sometimes, but I feel that she'd complain about it a little bit more than the average young adult, don'tcha think?

I still empathize with her despite finding it a little exagerated...!
I'm only 19 so I'm still learning a lot of adult stuff. Exciting and kinda scary!! woo...

But I also think she would have a lot more figured out than I do...
Still, my views on people that are on their twenties will not really change from when I was five until I actually am in my twenties, I'm assuming...! /lh AGSAGHDSADJK

!! Final Thoughts !!

Being completely honest it took a while to finish this because I'm not really a walking dictionary,
But that didn't mean I wasn't totally freaking inspired!! *far from it!!!*
I'm just weird like that. I got so much to say about Shaplin, but not enough words to convey my fascination with her

I'm genuinely so sad that I didn't add any more songs to the Winamp widget because I enjoyed every moment of writing my thoughts out about her, what my perspective is, what this or that song means to me, what i think SHE would think or do.
it's honest to everything, so fun...

There's this quote about creating the things that you want to see,
and I took them to heart, because there should be more content about this silly walmart beast!!!
